Mom's Lasagna

This is one of the all-time best recipes! I love my mom's lasagna - its better than any restaurant's that I've had, and its fairly easy to make!

  • 1 lb. Ground Beef
  • 1 15 oz jar spaghetti sauce
  • 6 oz (1 ½ c.) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ c. cream-style cottage cheese
  • ¼ c. grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 t. dried oregano
  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • ¾ c hot water

Brown ground beef. Drain. Stir spaghetti sauce into ground beef. In bowl, mix 1 cup mozzarella cheese, 2 eggs, cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese and oregano.

Place 3 uncooked lasagna noodles in baking dish (12 x 7 or 8 x 8). Spread 1 1/3 cups meat mixture over noodles. Spread about half of the egg-cheese mixture over meat. Add 3 more noodles, another 1 ½ cups meat and remaining egg-cheese mixture. Top with last 3 noodles and rest of the meat. Pour hot water into the corners of the baking dish. Cover with foil.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1 ¼ hours. After removing from oven, sprinkle remaining ½ cup shredded cheese on top. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
